Remembrance

As much as we want to save them all, Bob had to leave us way too early. This amazing Dude has a permanent spot in our hearts πŸ’• πŸ˜“ After many vet visits to Manheim Pike Veterinary Hospital it was confirmed that Bob had developed a deformity during his mother's gestational period. His hind end never formed correctly; he was born without a tail and an inability to go to the bathroom. While he was nursing from his mother his body was able to urinate out the majority of his waste, but we could tell he had continuous tummy pains. As he stopped nursing, his food became too solid. Without Bob having a fully formed rectum, there was no way for him to release the waste and the toxins began to build in his stomach. We had to make a choice between what seemed like a good day versus what would have been continued suffering until a painful death😭

β€œDogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog, it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs your heart is very big”
— Erica Jong
β€œIf having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans.”
— James Herriot
β€œWhen we think of those companions who travelled by our side down life’s road, let us not say with sadness that they left us behind, but rather say with gentle gratitude that they once were with us.”
