Background

Rae was initially found by an individual recovering from substance abuse. This individual took Rae off the streets, where she was wondering around aimlessly in traffic, and brought her into the Recovery House where he has been living since completing Substance Abuse Treatment. A roommate of his slept downstairs on the couch so Rae wouldn’t be alone during her first night off the streets. Recovery Tails was informed of the situation as the guys were unable to have pets at the Recovery House.

When Recovery Tails arrived it was apparent that Rae was almost, if not completely blind. Her nails were extremely overgrown, he hair was matted, and she had a noticeable lump on her stomach. Recovery Tails schedule a same day vet visit for Rae.

During her veterinary examination Rae had her nails trimmed, received her vaccinations (rabies , distemper, Parvo, Bordetella) and was treated for fleas, ticks, and heart worms. Examination results determined that there is a high likelihood that she has tumors on her mammary glands. Rae will also need to have teeth pulled as she is visibly in pain and unable to eat dry food at this point.

Her second day at Recovery Tails led to her first transformation. She visited the groomer, presumptuously for the first time, and she came back looking and feeling like a new dog. Thank you to The Shaggy Dog for your amazing work and generosity!

Today

As of today she is still being closely watched by Recovery Tails on her road to recovery and adoption.
